8/30/99 Update: This doesn't really
have anything to do with Tweak Central, but it's here anyway.
UPDATE 4.3.99:
I did a little experimenting and here's what
I found:
The game cycles the three files: cursor0.tga, cursor1.tga and cursor2.tga
to create an animated cursor. This means if you want to create an animated
cursor for the game, simply create a 3 frame animation and save each frame
as a cursorX.tga file. I still don't know what cursor3.tga does.
Here it is in action!
I
made a new cursor to replace the default cursor in the game: Civilization:
Call-to-Power®.
It's not really related to tweaking, but
I want people to be able to find this file if they want it.
The
original cursor looks like this. It's great if you like Age of Empires,
but I find "the finger" a little distracting.
That's
why I made the white-arrow cursor. It looks like Microsoft's default white-cursor,
but I didn't try to cheat and make it look less "jaggy" by having
the left-side be straight-up-and-down.
If you own CivCTP and would like to use mine,
simply download the zip and follow the instructions on the enclosed readme-file.
It's really simple to change the cursor: it shouldn't take more than a
minute!
1. Navigate to the
\ctp_data\default\graphics\cursors directory under the game install directory.
2. Rename the 4 original cursor files so you
don't overwrite them with the new ones.
You can name them something like cursorXtga.bak (where X is 0..3).
3. Then simply unzip the 4 cursorX.tga files
(where X is 0..3) and place them in the \ctp_data\default\graphics\cursors
directory.
These instructions are included in the .zip file.
Testing
I tested the cursor out at all the resolutions (640x
.. 1600x) and it worked fine. I didn't play for very long with the cursor,
so I don't know how it interacts with all the possible menus.

Freeware
It's not really software, but it's freely distributable.
Modifying
Feel free to modify or make your own cursor(s): it's
really easy. There are some tips in the readme file if you're having a
hard time getting started.
One of the great things about CivCTP (and CivII)
are that they creators allow the users to modify the game and customize
it to their liking. I think this is great!
