Explorer tweaks

Make
Explore (two-pane Windows Explorer) your default:
|
07/08/98
|
To make explorer the default for double-clicking (instead of Open (in
a new window)) - this way you can manage your files with windows explorer
instead of having numerous windows open all over the place...
Do the following:
1. Double-Click on "My Computer" and open a window.
2. Windows2000: users, select Tools | Folder Options.
Windows 9x/ME/NT users, select View | Options
3. Then the File Types tab.
4. Windows 2000: Folders are listed as N/A.
Click on the Advanced button.
Windows 9x/ME/NT: Scroll down and highlight Folder
and press the Edit button.
5. Under Actions, Open is the default choice, click on explore
and then press the Set Default button

That's It!
You're done! Now whenever you "Open" a folder or
anything else that lists files, you can view them in the two pane explorer.
BTW, this is an easy way to change how any file is associated (opened...etc)
not to mention icons for filetypes... We'll get into that later...

| Make
Windows Explorer open to the directory of your choice by default

This one is from Patrick C. (Thanks!)
1. Right-click on the shortcut or shortcuts
you use for windows explorer and choose properties:
2. In the target field which looks like this
in (Windows 2000)
%windir%\Explorer.exe
Add the following
/e, c:\xxxxxx
End result looks like this
%windir%\Explorer.exe /e, c:\xxxxxx
Where the c:\xxxx replace with whatever directory you would like to
have open
3. That's it!
You need to do this to all shortcuts you have if you want them all to
expand the same directory.
Should work the same in ME
Took me some time to figure this out and a bit of remembering. It is just
like 98 just a slightly different syntax.
